PCB suffers major setback after BCCI abandons participation in Asian Cup 2023, chances are they might play 5 Nation Tournament.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) could face challenges in hosting the 2023 Asia Cup following the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) statement that they will not send the Indian Cricket Team to participate in the tournament hosted in Pakistan. The tension arose due to political pressure and concerns over the safety of the Indian Cricket Team while traveling to Pakistan for the tournament.

Subsequently, Pakistan proposed a new hybrid model, where India and Pakistan would play at a neutral venue and the other teams would play in Pakistan. However, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is not pleased with the PCB's hybrid model proposal, which could eventually result in the cancellation of the tournament.

Reports suggest that BCCI plans to hold a new five-nation tournament (teams unknown) after the cancellation of the Asia Cup 2023. If PCB decides to entirely move the event to the UAE, they will face a backlash. This decision could also affect the Pakistan Cricket Team's performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to take place in India in December.
