ASIA CUP 2023 Confirmed!

After numerous twists and turns, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has finally approved the hybrid model proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). According to the new plan, the tournament will be held in two different venues: Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Recently, Sri Lanka Cricket accepted the hosting proposal and agreed to host all of the Indian Cricket Team's matches in Sri Lanka. The first four matches will be played in Pakistan, while the remaining games will take place in Sri Lanka.

Due to the hybrid model, the games played in Pakistan make it a secondary venue with only four matches, while the remaining nine games are played in Sri Lanka, establishing it as the primary venue.

The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 31, 2023, and will conclude on September 17. The Asia Cup will be a 50-over One-Day International (ODI) event. Six teams, namely India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal, will participate in the tournament. Notably, this will be Nepal's first appearance in the Asia Cup since its inception.

The tournament will have two groups, and two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Four stage. The two teams that win the most matches will then qualify for the final.

The following are the groups for the tournament:

Group 1:

  • India
  • Pakistan
  • Nepal
Group 2:
  • Bangladesh
  • Afghanistan
  • Sri Lanka
So far, India has claimed 7 titles, Sri Lanka has secured 6, and Pakistan has won 2. Who do you think will emerge as the next champion, or will a new nation lift the trophy this time?
